The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of additional kidnappers associated with the murder of Naheeba Kadriyar, a 400-level student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who was abducted alongside her sister in Abuja.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos State Command tactical team raided several criminal hideouts in Ijanikin, Alasia, and Era axis of the state, arresting 22 suspects, including Emeka Collins, who was on the command's wanted list.
Additionally, the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested Daniel Akpadiaha for stabbing a 31-year-old woman, Martha Dogara, and attempting to abduct her on her way home.
Adejobi stated that the Nigeria Police Force has dedicated resources to eradicate criminality in the country since Naheeba's murder. The Force has arrested several suspects linked to the kidnapping syndicate responsible for Naheeba's abduction and other crimes. Among those arrested were Idris Ishaku, Bello Umar, and Isa Dei-Dei, all connected to various kidnapping syndicates.
In another operation, police operatives in Plateau State rescued three persons abducted by unknown gunmen. The operatives trailed the gunmen to a bush along Pankshin Dam, engaging them in a gun battle and rescuing the victims.
Furthermore, the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested Daniel Akpadiaha for attempting to abduct Martha Dogara. Akpadiaha stabbed Dogara multiple times but fled when she raised an alarm.
The Lagos State Command tactical team also raided criminal hideouts in Lagos, arresting 22 suspects, including Emeka Collins, who was on the wanted list of the Lagos State Command.
The police spokesman emphasized the force's commitment to tackling crime and ensuring peace and tranquility in Nigeria. He assured Nigerians that the police would apprehend all suspects involved in the Ekiti school pupils' kidnapping and the killings of traditional rulers in Ekiti and Kwara States.
Additionally, operatives of the Sokoto State Police Command arrested four suspected kidnappers and neutralized bandits, recovering arms in the process. The suspects, Abdullahi Ali, Aliyu Mohammed, Abdullahi Umar, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Anas, were intercepted along the Bodinga-Tambunwal Highway with three AK-47 rifles, 90 rounds of live ammunition, and three AK-47 magazines. They confessed to planning a kidnapping operation in Tambuwal.
Furthermore, on the 14th of February, suspected bandits were engaged by the State Tactical Team close to Gigane Village, Sokoto State, resulting in some bandits being neutralized, and the recovery of a GPMG rifle with six live ammunition. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members and criminal elements in the state.
