On Tuesday, Feb. 6, a tragic incident occurred at Radford Studios in Studio City as a rigger fell from a catwalk, resulting in his death.
The male crew member, identified as Juan Carlos Osorio, 41, of Temple City, was working at the studio on the set of Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man. However, filming for the series was not underway at the time of the incident.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the fatality, expressing condolences to Osorio's family and friends.
A spokesperson from Marvel Studios also extended sympathies, stating, “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.”
Matthew D. Loeb, President of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), expressed shock and sadness over the loss, emphasizing the organization's commitment to safety on set.
“Safety on set is our highest priority, and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can," Loeb stated. "If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.”
The production of Wonder Man, slated to commence next month, had previously faced delays due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
