Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has issued a stern warning to his players ahead of their semi-final showdown against South Africa at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Peseiro emphasized the importance of his players giving their absolute best on the pitch to secure victory against the Bafana Bafana. Despite Nigeria's impressive performance so far in the tournament, Peseiro stressed the need for his team to exceed 100 percent effort against their South African opponents.
"We're doing a good job. Good organization and commitment are evident, and we're playing like a cohesive team," stated the Portuguese coach during a press conference in Bouake on Tuesday, February 6.
Acknowledging the challenge posed by South Africa, Peseiro highlighted the importance of playing at a high level against a formidable opponent who eliminated Morocco, a team that performed exceptionally well in the World Cup.
"To reach the final, we must overcome a tough opponent in South Africa. We need to bring our A-game and give 100% or more to defeat a very talented team," Peseiro emphasized.
Expressing his belief in the team's ability to win the competition, Peseiro also acknowledged the ambitions of South Africa, emphasizing their shared desire to lift the AFCON trophy.
