Former US President Donald Trump criticized the Royal Family for being "too gracious" to Prince Harry and claimed he would not protect him like President Joe Biden has done. Trump made these comments at the CPAC conference in Washington DC, following Harry's appearance in court over allegations regarding his US immigration papers and drug use.
The legal challenge against Prince Harry has been pursued by the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC, with resistance from the Prince and support from Biden's Department of Homeland Security, a stance that Trump disagrees with.
Trump stated to the Daily Express US, "I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me." He added, "I think they have been too gracious to him after what he has done."
Trump also claimed that Biden's administration "protected Harry" by keeping his immigration application confidential. This controversy arises as Prince Harry has expressed interest in obtaining US citizenship, stating on Good Morning America that he has considered it but it is not a high priority for him at the moment.
Despite his time in the US and positive experiences, Harry expressed uncertainty about feeling American, indicating that while the thought of US citizenship has crossed his mind, it is not a decision he has made.
