137 Abducted Students Rescued in Kaduna State, 4 Killed, 58 Kidnapped in Fresh Attack



The Kaduna State Government received 137 rescued abducted students of the Government Secondary School, Chikun Local Government Area, who were rescued in Zamfara State. The schoolchildren arrived in Kaduna amidst tight security and were taken to the Women and Children Shelter for psychosocial therapy before reuniting with their parents.


Six of the students were hospitalized at the Army medical facility, Dallet Barracks, Kawo, Kaduna. The General Officer Commanding 1, Maj. Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, stated that one male student and five female pupils were receiving treatment and would be handed over to the state government when medically fit.


Governor Uba Sani cautioned against politicizing security issues and praised President Bola Tinubu's support. He warned against misinformation and urged unity in celebrating the safe return of the abducted children.


In a separate incident, four persons were killed, and 58 were abducted in an attack on Ungwan Saidu, Magajin Gari Ward II in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area. Thirty people escaped, while 28 remained hostages. Local vigilantes engaged the bandits, limiting the number of abductees.


Efforts to establish contact with the kidnappers were ongoing. Kaduna State has witnessed increased kidnappings in recent weeks, especially in Kajuru, Chikun, and Birnin-Gwari LGAs.
