Anambra State Governor Appoints 18 New Permanent Secretaries

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the appointment of 18 new permanent secretaries across ministries in the state. The appointments, announced by the governor's press secretary, Christian Aburime, on Friday, March 8, include individuals from both Anambra State and other states.

Among the appointees are Adebayo Ojeyinka from Osun State and Joachin Achor from Abia State, with the remaining 16 appointees hailing from Anambra State. The appointments were made based on merit, following a thorough and transparent process that included a computer-based exam, a search process, and personal interviews with the governor.

The press statement emphasized that the selection process aimed to uphold principles of fairness, equal opportunity, and the identification of the most qualified candidates. It noted that the governor's decision to appoint individuals from other states demonstrates a commitment to tapping into talent from across the country, rather than limiting opportunities to only Anambra indigenes.

The appointment of Adebayo Ojeyinka from Osun State was highlighted as particularly noteworthy, as it breaks the traditional practice of reserving top civil service positions for indigenes only. This move underscores Anambra State's commitment to inclusivity and openness to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
