UK Govt Implemented Ban to prevent healthcare workers from Nigeria and other foreign countries from bringing their dependents

The United Kingdom (UK) has implemented a ban preventing health and care workers from Nigeria and other foreign countries from bringing their dependents to the UK. The UK Home Office announced this measure on Monday, March 11, as part of its strategy to reduce migration into the country.

The UK government stated that overseas care workers brought an estimated 120,000 dependents to the UK in the year ending September 23. As a result, care workers entering the UK on Health and Care Worker visas will no longer be allowed to bring dependents, effective immediately.

"This is part of our plan to deliver the biggest ever cut in migration," the statement from the UK Home Office read.

This move follows a previous announcement by the UK Home Office on Tuesday, January 2, which introduced a policy banning Nigerian students and other overseas students from bringing dependents via the study visa route.
