NAFDAC Shuts Down Fake and Unwholesome Bakeries and Water Factories in Rivers State

The National Agency for Food and Drug Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action against substandard food and water production in Rivers State. Ten bakeries and eight table water factories were closed down for producing fake and unwholesome products.

NAFDAC's statement highlighted that some of these facilities operated in unhygienic conditions and used popular brand names without proper authorization. The agency's intervention followed meticulous investigations, surveillance, and consumer complaints about substandard products.

Many of the bakeries lacked proper registration with NAFDAC, while others had expired licenses or had relocated without notifying the agency. Additionally, some water factories were found to be operating without necessary filtration equipment and were not adhering to standard production processes.

NAFDAC has urged non-compliant producers to promptly renew their licenses and warned of consequences for flouting regulations. This action underscores the agency's commitment to ensuring consumer safety and product quality in Rivers State.
