Police Investigation into United's Antony Continues Amid Domestic Abuse Allegations

An investigation into Manchester United star Antony is reportedly ongoing following allegations of domestic abuse made against him by an ex-girlfriend last year.

Antony was accused of abuse by former partner Gabriela Cavallin, who claimed he had attacked her on four occasions, including once in June 2022 while she was pregnant. The player has denied the allegations, including those from 33-year-old banker Ingrid Lana, who came forward with a similar accusation. A third accuser, Rayssa de Freitas, is understood to have dropped her allegation.

In September, United granted Antony a period of absence from the club to address the claims, and he was also dropped from the Brazil squad during international duty. Upon his return to the UK on September 28, he voluntarily attended an interview with Greater Manchester Police (GMP), and the club announced he was set to return to first-team training.

GMP has confirmed that an investigation into Antony is ongoing, with Brazilian authorities also still investigating the player. The report indicates that the probe is awaiting a conclusion.

United, in a statement, reiterated their condemnation of acts of violence and abuse, stating that they recognize the importance of safeguarding all those involved in the situation. Manager Erik ten Hag emphasized that the club would focus on games and that Antony would do the same.
