VfB Stuttgart Defeats Union Berlin 2-0 to Close in on Second Place



VfB Stuttgart secured a 2-0 home victory over Union Berlin, further solidifying their position in the Bundesliga standings. The win, powered by goals from Serhou Guirassy and Chris Fuehrich, marks Stuttgart's seventh consecutive unbeaten game, bringing their total points to 53 and placing them just one point behind second-placed Bayern Munich.


Guirassy opened the scoring in the 19th minute with his 21st league goal of the season, showcasing his striking prowess with a well-placed shot at the far post. Fuehrich extended Stuttgart's lead to 2-0 with a superb strike in the 65th minute, sealing the victory for the home team.


Union Berlin's hopes were further dashed when Andras Schafer was shown a red card in the 69th minute for a foul on Josha Vagnoman, reducing them to 10 men. The defeat leaves Union Berlin in 14th place with 25 points, eight points clear of the relegation playoff spot.
