American Idol Star Mandisa Dies at 47


Grammy-winning singer Mandisa, known for her appearance on season five of "American Idol," has passed away at the age of 47. Her representative confirmed her death on Thursday, April 18, though the cause of death remains unknown.


In a statement, Mandisa's representative requested prayers for her family and friends during this difficult time. The artist's Facebook page also posted a message honoring her, describing her as a voice of encouragement and truth.


Mandisa, who hailed from Citrus Heights, California, gained fame after finishing ninth on "American Idol" in 2005. Following her time on the show, she released her debut album "True Beauty" in 2007, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart.


Throughout her career, Mandisa released a total of six albums, including the Grammy-winning "Overcomer" in 2014, which won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Her music and voice were celebrated for their uplifting and inspiring qualities, touching the lives of many facing life's challenges.
