Tesla is recalling close to 4,000 of its Cybertrucks due to a problem with the vehicle's accelerator pedal, as per documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The safety recall report states that 3,878 vehicles manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023, and April 4 will be recalled for repair. The issue arises when high force is applied to the accelerator pedal, causing the pad to dislodge and potentially become trapped in the interior trim above the pedal.
This recall comes amidst a series of challenges for Tesla, including a recent workforce reduction of 10% following disappointing earnings showing a decline in car deliveries in the first quarter of the year.
There have been reports linking the accelerator pedal issue to a March 4 incident where a Cybertruck crashed into the Beverly Hills Hotel sign. However, the Beverly Hills Police Department has yet to determine the cause of the crash, and Tesla stated that they are not aware of any collisions, injuries, or deaths related to this accelerator pedal issue.
