Kevin Spacey Dismisses New Allegations in Channel 4 Documentary

Kevin Spacey has dismissed fresh claims in Channel 4's new documentary, which will probe new sex allegation claims from several men. The two-part series, coming nine months after Spacey was cleared of nine sexual assault charges, looks at fresh claims made by several men, "almost all of whom have never spoken before."

The documentary takes a forensic look at Spacey, once one of the most admired and respected actors in the world. It features on-camera testimonies from British and American men about their experiences with Spacey over 50 years.

Spacey, 64, seems to disregard the show as a work of fiction, stating to Variety, "I'm honoured to be starring in my first film with Warner Brothers in many years." He added, "I hope the Academy takes note of some of the great acting by the lesser-known cast."

One source close to the project was left "speechless" by Spacey's response, calling it "sheer cockiness." Spacey was previously accused of abusing his fame and power to carry out sex attacks on four men during his tenure as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre. He insisted the claims were "madness" and accused the claimants of "lying for money."

In July 2023, Spacey was cleared of sexually assaulting the four men following a high-profile trial at Southwark Crown Court. Channel 4's documentary, "Spacey Unmasked," features voiceovers from two men played over archived images of Spacey, with one saying, "This wasn't just any guy … this was Kevin freakin' Spacey."

The show is produced by Dorothy Byrne, Channel 4's former head of news and current affairs, who announced in 2022 that it would follow the unfolding story of the allegations against Spacey and the resulting court cases. Lawyers are waiting to hear back from Spacey's representatives for a response to the new allegations. Channel 4 has stated that Spacey has been offered a right to reply in relation to the contents of the documentary.
