Mbappe Fires PSG Past Rennes into French Cup Final

Paris Saint-Germain secured a spot in the French Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Rennes, courtesy of a goal from Kylian Mbappe. Despite having a penalty saved by Rennes goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, Mbappe's deflected shot in the 40th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.

The win sets up a final clash against Lyon, who defeated Valenciennes 3-0 in the first semi-final. PSG, looking to add to their record 14 French Cup victories, will face Lyon in Lille on May 25.

PSG coach Luis Enrique expressed his satisfaction with reaching the final, calling the French Cup one of the team's main objectives this season. The final could potentially be Mbappe's last game for PSG, as the 25-year-old has announced his intention to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Despite the impending departure of their star player, PSG remain in contention for multiple trophies this season, sitting comfortably atop the Ligue 1 table and still alive in the Champions League.

Rennes, on the other hand, will turn their focus to their fight for European qualification in Ligue 1. Lyon, aiming for their sixth French Cup title, will provide a stern test for PSG in the final.
