Prince Harry Declares US as Primary Residence, Renounces British Residency

Prince Harry has officially listed the United States as his primary residence, marking a significant step since stepping back from his role in the British royal family in 2020.

Documents obtained by the Daily Mail show that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, recently updated his housing records to state that his “New Country/State Usually Resident” is now the US. This update was made in documents submitted for his eco-travel venture, Travalyst, and the change was listed as effective from June 29, 2023.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, officially moved out of their home in the UK on June 28, three months after being asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage by King Charles III.

While Harry's change of residency is not expected to impact his royal titles, he plans to visit London next month and will meet his father during the trip.

Despite listing the US as his primary residence, Harry expressed in December 2023 that he still considers the UK to be his “home” but felt “forced” to relocate to the US due to safety concerns, especially for his children.

In the same statement, Harry mentioned that he has considered obtaining American citizenship but clarified that it is not a high priority for him at the moment.

Harry and Meghan have been living in California with their two children for the past four years and have expressed contentment with their life on the West Coast, with Harry stating, “It’s amazing. I love every single day.”
