PSV jumps from bottom to second after edging Lens

PSV Eindhoven secured their first Champions League group-stage victory in eight years by beating Lens 1-0. Luuk De Jong scored early to secure the win.

This was Lens first loss of this campaign.

Arsenal beat Sevilla 2-0, cementing their position atop Group B with nine points, while PSV and Lens are tied for second with five points each, and Sevilla has two at the bottom.

Lens still has a chance to make the knockout stage for the first time.

Real Sociedad vs Benfica (3-1)

With a convincing 3-1 victory over Benfica in Group D on Wednesday, Real Sociedad advanced to the Champions League knockout stage, dashing the Portuguese team's slim chances of making it to the round of 16.

Mikel Merino, Mikel Oyarzabal and Ander Barrenetxea were on target for the host, while in the second half Rafa Silva netted Benfica's first goal in the competition after three previous defeats in the group.

INTER VS SALZBURG (1-0)

With two games left, Inter Milan defeated Salzburg 1-0 thanks goal by Lautaro Martinez, ending the Austrian champions' hopes of making it to the round of sixteen in the Champions League.

Five minutes from time, Inter's substitute Martinez scored the game's winning goal from the penalty spot after Simone Inzaghi's team was given a penalty for a handball.

With 10 points, Inter is tied for second place in Group D with leaders Real Sociedad, who defeated Benfica 3-1 in the other group match earlier on Wednesday. Inter's victory also guaranteed a top-two finish.
