Ian Wright to Step Down from Match of the Day Punditry Role

 

Ian Wright will step down from his regular Match of the Day punditry role at the end of the football season in May 2024. 

The former Arsenal and England striker, who made his debut on the show in 1997, announced the news on social media. Wright expressed gratitude for his incredible run on the iconic football program and cited his desire to explore new opportunities on Saturdays. 

He highlighted Match of the Day as his "Holy Grail" and expressed excitement for covering the potentially thrilling Premier League title race in his last months on the show.
