Anthony Joshua is set to face former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia in a 10-round bout, with the exact date yet to be announced, possibly in March. Ngannou, the 37-year-old Cameroonian, previously held the UFC heavyweight title and recently fought Tyson Fury in boxing, losing on a split decision.
Joshua's original plans to fight Deontay Wilder were disrupted by Wilder's loss to Joseph Parker. Despite initially targeting a bout against Filip Hrgovic, Joshua will now take on Ngannou in Riyadh. The confirmation came from Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, with further details expected after a press conference on January 15 in London.
