Bomb Explosions In Iran, Near Soleimani's Tomb in Kerman Result in 73 Deaths

Two bomb explosions near the tomb of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani have resulted in at least 73 deaths and 171 injuries, according to Iran's state media.

The blasts occurred during a procession near the Saheb al-Zaman mosque in Kerman on the fourth anniversary of Soleimani's assassination by the US. The deputy governor of Kerman characterized the incident as a "terrorist attack."

A video circulating online shows several bodies on a road. The commemorative ceremony for Soleimani, who was a prominent Iranian military figure, was taking place as hundreds of people walked towards his tomb. Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike in Iraq in 2020, and his death escalated tensions between Iran and the US.
