Lagos Police Commissioner: Officers Not Permitted to Search Phones Without Proper Procedure

Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Fayoade Adegoke, has emphasized that no police officer is authorized to search the phones of Nigerian citizens without following proper procedures.

Speaking on Melody FM, CP Adegoke highlighted that the Police Force has a dedicated cyber section for such investigations. If a police officer suspects criminal activity on an individual's phone, the proper protocol is to take the person to the police station for a lawful search.

Adegoke stressed that citizens should be treated with respect and decency, and no police officer has the right to beat them. He also encouraged the public to report any misconduct or corruption by police officers through established channels, including his direct phone number.
