Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has once again raised concerns about the debt accumulated by Nigeria and other African countries.
During an interaction with the 2023 awardees of the Future Africa Leaders Foundation, an initiative led by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, Obasanjo emphasized that mismanagement of past debts written off for Nigeria would make it challenging for any administration to secure similar debt relief in the continent.
He highlighted debt as a dangerous trap that individuals and nations should avoid, as it becomes a burden on any economy. Obasanjo identified leadership as the primary challenge facing the continent and warned that future generations would be compelled to repay the current debts incurred by various African countries.
