"Love is Blind" contestant Renee Poche has filed a lawsuit against Netflix and the show's production company, Delirium TV, alleging that she was paired with an unsuitable match and pressured to bankrupt her for speaking out.
The reality dating show involves contestants meeting in separate pods, engaging in conversations through speakers, and progressing to engagement before planning their weddings.
Renee, who appeared in season five, claims she was matched with Carter Wall, whom she describes as a "lying, violent, emotionally unstable drug addict." Allegedly, Delirium TV knew about Carter's troubling issues but still matched them.
Despite concerns about Carter's behavior, Renee states that producers forced her to film with him for extended periods. She further alleges that Carter was emotionally abusive, abused drugs and alcohol, and physically threatened a camera operator.
According to Renee, she was threatened with legal action if she didn't proceed with the engagement. When filming in Carter's Texas hometown, producers warned her about his potential danger and encouraged her to continue filming.
After the show concluded, Renee claims her relationship with Carter was removed from the program due to his suicide threat if the footage aired. She has since called off the engagement and spoken publicly about her experience.
Allegedly, Delirium accuses Renee of violating her non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and seeks $4 million in damages, despite her earning only $8,000 for the show. Renee argues that the NDA is unlawful and is pursuing a court declaration of its illegality, along with damages from Netflix and Delirium.
