Doja Cat Denied Permanent Restraining Order Against Brother Amid Allegations

American rapper and singer Doja Cat, 28, has been denied a permanent restraining order against her older brother Raman Dlamini.

The Grammy-winning artist had previously filed court documents seeking the permanent restraining order following allegations of abuse raised by their mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer. Sawyer stated in a January 12 court filing in Los Angeles Superior Court that Raman, 30, had been physically and verbally abusive towards Doja Cat, even knocking out her teeth at one point.

Sawyer also expressed feeling unsafe around Raman, as she detailed instances of his abusive behavior towards her as well. Initially granted a restraining order amid the allegations, Sawyer's restraining order against Raman had been extended for five years.

However, the court declined to grant a permanent restraining order for Doja Cat, who accused her brother of theft, destruction of property, and physical abuse, resulting in cuts and bruises.

In court documents, Sawyer corroborated Doja Cat's claims, emphasizing the need for protection due to Raman's behavior, which she described as causing constant anxiety and fear. She also highlighted instances of verbal abuse directed towards her grandson.

Raman, when approached by a photographer in Los Angeles, claimed to be unaware of Doja Cat's identity and denied the existence of any restraining order against him. He dismissed the allegations, stating that he had not seen anyone in years.

The denial of the permanent restraining order adds to the ongoing familial turmoil surrounding Doja Cat and her brother, highlighting the complexities and challenges involved in addressing allegations of abuse within families.
