Ondo State Magistrate Court Remands Tailor for Alleged Theft of Pot of Soup

A tailor, Adua Fatogun, has been remanded by an Ondo State Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a pot of soup. Fatogun was brought before the court on charges of burglary and theft, which he purportedly committed on October 12, 2023, around 9 am at Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi in Ondo town.

The 19-year-old suspect is also accused of stealing gas cylinders and other items valued at N311,100, belonging to three individuals: Felix Ogunbolade, Adeoga Aboodun, and Akinsete Adurayemi.

The Police prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, stated that the offences contravene Section 383 and are punishable under Section 412(1) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.

Fatogun pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge when it was read to him. Olagbayi requested an adjournment to prepare prosecution witnesses for trial, as the defendant was not legally represented.

The presiding Magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin, ruled to remand the defendant until February 19, 2024, for trial.
