Bauchi Police Nab Trio Who Blew Stolen Motorcycle Money on Night Out

Three men in Bauchi State, Nigeria, are facing charges for stealing a motorcycle after a police investigation led to their arrest. The stolen Boxer motorcycle, valued at N400,000, was recovered along with a tool used to break the ignition and a small amount of cash.

According to police spokesperson SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects allegedly sold the motorcycle for a mere N100,000 and used the money to indulge in a night of partying with girlfriends. Their purchases included a hotel stay, illegal drugs, cigarettes, and codeine syrup.

The arrests came after a tip on March 15th reported the motorcycle stolen from the Gidan Ruwa area.  Police swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the apprehension of Yusuf Adamu (30), Mohammed Sanusi (20), and Masa’ud Ibrahim (20) on March 22nd.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to using a "Kati or Chori" tool to steal the motorcycle.  Investigators also discovered that two of the men had prior arrests for similar offenses, and one had a previous conviction for fraud but received a state pardon in 2022.

The police emphasized their commitment to intelligence-led policing and vowed to bring the suspects to justice.  Following the completion of the investigation, all three men will face charges of criminal conspiracy and theft.
