Jose Peseiro Denies Return to Super Eagles Coaching Role

Former Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has dismissed speculation suggesting he could make a return to coach Nigeria again. Peseiro's contract expired at the end of February, and he has confirmed that his time with the national team has come to an end.

In an interview with Sports Italia, Peseiro stated, "My work with the Super Eagles is over. It was gratifying to coach players of such quality, but the time has come to move on to another project."

During his tenure, Peseiro led the Super Eagles to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The 63-year-old Portuguese coach was at the helm for 22 months.

Following Peseiro's departure, several high-profile coaches, including Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh, Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi, and Antonio Conceicao, have applied for the vacant coaching position.
