PRP Rejects 300% Electricity Tariff Hike, Calls it "Merciless and Ruthless Policy"

The People's Redemption Party (PRP) has rejected the recent 300 per cent electricity tariff hike by the Federal Government, describing it as "a merciless and ruthless policy." The acting National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, stated that the increase would worsen the economic situation in the country and expressed deep concern for the plight of Nigerians.

Ishaq emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidies had already made life unbearable for many Nigerians, and the additional burden of such a significant increase in electricity tariff was unjustifiable. He criticized the government for imposing policies that further burden the population, especially at a time when many are struggling to meet basic needs.

The PRP called on the Federal Government to reconsider the decision and prioritize the well-being of its citizens when implementing policies. The party urged the government to explore alternative solutions, such as investing in renewable energy sources like solar, biogas, and wind, to provide cheap and sustainable electricity for Nigerians.

The party also warned that the tariff hike would negatively impact medium and small-scale enterprises, potentially leading to job losses and hindering the country's overall growth and development. The PRP pledged to stand in solidarity with affected Nigerians and work towards a better future for all.
