Luis Suárez Joins Inter Miami CF, Eager to Reunite with Former Barcelona Teammates

 




Luis Suárez, renowned for his prolific career at FC Barcelona from 2014 to 2020, where he secured numerous accolades, including a UEFA Champions League title and four LaLiga championships, has reunited with former teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami CF. The official announcement came on Friday, marking Suárez's signing with the club through the 2024 MLS season.


In an interview with Inter Miami, Suárez expressed that the opportunity to play alongside his former teammates was a crucial factor in choosing his next destination. He highlighted the familiarity and understanding built over the years with Messi, Busquets, and Alba, emphasizing their shared desire to win titles for Inter Miami.


Suárez's arrival at Inter Miami follows his recent stint with Grêmio, where he earned recognition as the Best Player and Best Striker in the Brazilian first division, contributing 26 goals and 17 assists in 53 appearances and securing two titles. Eager to build on his success, Suárez is excited about the upcoming season with Inter Miami and aims to contribute to the club's growth.


As Uruguay's all-time leading scorer, Suárez, with 68 goals in 138 appearances, has a clear goal during his MLS tenure – to add more trophies to Inter Miami's cabinet. Encouraging fans to trust the team, he envisions a year filled with joy and promises to fight until the end to realize their dreams.


Following a preseason tour in Asia, Inter Miami kicks off the 2024 MLS campaign with a home match against Real Salt Lake on Feb. 21, followed by an MLS is Back clash with LA Galaxy on Feb. 25.
