Dele Alake Affirms Threats Over Accusations Against Powerful Figures in Illegal Mining-Associated Banditry

 




Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, confirmed that he received threats after stating that influential Nigerians are involved in banditry linked to illegal mining in Nigeria. Alake expressed his determination during a visit to the explosion site in Ibadan, Oyo State.

 He emphasized that powerful figures support banditry associated with illegal miners, and though he faced threats, he stands undaunted. Alake disclosed the involvement of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to tackle the issue, working with stakeholders at various levels. 

He also discussed the recent Ibadan explosion, emphasizing the need for thorough investigations before making definitive statements.
