The Nigeria Police Force has provided clarification on its stance against the viral 2024 slogan, 'no gree for anybody.' The origin of the slogan remains unclear, but it has gained popularity among Nigerians, especially the youth, as a motivational phrase for success in the new year.
The Force spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, had earlier warned against the use of the slogan, citing concerns about potential violence against police officers. However, the warning faced strong opposition from netizens who continued to spread the slogan, asserting that no one could stop them.
In a tweet posted on his official handle on Thursday night, Adejobi explained that the police force aims to advise and educate Nigerians on potential early warning signs of impending danger as a civil and people-oriented institution. He reiterated that the slogan should not be used to attack security operatives while they carry out their duties.
"Do not take the 2024 slogan for granted. Do not abuse the slogan and capitalize on it to be attacking security operatives while discharging their duties. Be reasonable with the slogan, sue for, and embrace peace anywhere you find yourself, even at home. It is well with our dear country," he cautioned.
