Minister Nyesom Wike Offers N20 Million Bounty for Wanted Kidnappers in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Nyesom Wike, has placed a N20 million bounty on two notorious kidnappers, Dahiru Adamu and Abu Ibrahim, who have been terrorizing the nation’s capital.

The suspects, both from Niger State, are believed to be responsible for the abduction of two defense staff at an Army Estate, as well as other notable persons in Abuja. They were also part of a gang that killed a district head in Abuja and kidnapped residents in Kabusa, Kutu, and other villages within the FCT.

Wike announced the bounty during a meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, where 23 criminal suspects were paraded at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki, Abuja. Among the arrested suspects were seven members of Dahiru and Abu's kidnapping gang.

The minister emphasized that his administration would not give criminals any breathing space, just as they have not been giving FCT residents any breathing space. He urged for the suspects to be brought in, dead or alive, stating, "Fish them out, dead or alive. We will not give them breathing space just as they’ve not been giving us breathing space."

The police boss, Igweh, noted that the seven suspects were arrested in Pyankasa, Tudun Wada, and Ketti village by a combined team of operatives from the Utako Divisional Headquarters and the Anti-Kidnapping team, following credible intelligence. He also mentioned that the wives of the two remaining wanted suspects were arrested while attempting to receive a N9 million ransom on behalf of their husbands.

In total, 23 suspects were arrested, including one-chance criminals and eight notorious armed robbers. The police recovered N9 million, six AK-47 rifles, bulletproof vests, and a locally-fabricated walkie-talkie from them.
