EduRank, a leading source for social media analytics in the education sector, has released its list of the top 10 universities in Africa for 2024. The rankings, based on research outputs, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence, were generated after analyzing 24.5 million citations received by 2.16 million academic publications from 1,104 universities across Africa.
Notably, no Nigerian university made it to the top 10. The University of Ibadan (UI) is the highest-ranked Nigerian institution, coming in at No.13 in Africa and No.1057 globally.
South Africa dominates the rankings, with seven universities in the top 10. The University of Cape Town (UCT) claimed the top spot, followed by the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Stellenbosch, all from South Africa.
