Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, became the world's richest person on Thursday, March 21, surpassing Bernard Arnault. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos now has a net worth of $201 billion, up from $199 billion on March 20.
Bezos' wealth primarily comes from Amazon, the e-commerce and cloud computing giant, as well as investments in media and streaming markets. Arnault, on the other hand, saw a decline in his net worth, dropping from $202 billion to $199 billion within 24 hours.
Bernard Arnault, known for his ownership of luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy (LVMH), now ranks second on the list of the world's richest people. Arnault's empire includes 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Sephora, as well as jeweler Tiffany & Co., which he acquired for $16 billion in 2021.
Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter), closely follows Arnault in third position, with a net worth of $189 billion. Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder, ranks fourth with an estimated wealth of $179 billion, while Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder, comes fifth with an estimated net worth of $153 billion.
