Rain Disrupts Miami Open Schedule, Murray's Match Suspended




Heavy rain wreaked havoc on the Miami Open schedule on Friday, forcing the cancellation of 14 men's singles matches, including Andy Murray's second-round clash with Tomas Martin Etcheverry.


Murray's Match on Hold:


Murray, who won his first-round match against Matteo Berrettini, was tied 3-3 in the first set when play was stopped.

The match is expected to resume on Saturday at approximately 5 PM (UK time), weather permitting.

Other Matches Affected:


British players Cam Norrie and Jack Draper also had their matches cancelled due to rain.

Norrie's match against Flavio Cobolli and Draper's encounter with Nicolas Jarry are rescheduled for Saturday, at 7 PM and 3 PM respectively.

Katie Boulter, the British No. 1, will also be in action on Saturday, facing Beatriz Haddad Maia around 9 PM after her win against Brenda Fruhvirtova.

Impact on Other Players:


Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner's second-round match against Andrea Vavassori was also delayed.

Denis Shapovalov leads Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-1 in their suspended match, while Daniil Medvedev awaits his second-round clash with Marton Fucsovics.

Women's Draw:


Iga Swiatek's match against Camila Giorgi and Elina Svitolina's clash with Naomi Osaka were also postponed due to rain.

Looking Ahead:


More rain is expected on Saturday, so the schedule may be further impacted.
