Tinubu Affirms Commitment to Economic Policies, Vows to Tackle Smuggling and Corruption

Speaking at the commissioning of the Lagos Red Line Train, former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his government's commitment to economic policies, stating that there is no going back on them.

Addressing the issue of smuggling, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges posed by smugglers and corruption, stating, "I agree smugglers will fight back, corruption will fight back. We will fight them to ruins. Corruption will go away, (we will) save the money for you to educate our children, to pay for the healthcare system of our people, to pay for the modern transportation system that works for the highest number of people, not those few smugglers."

Tinubu also emphasized the government's determination to continue with ongoing reforms, including the decision to end the subsidy on petrol, despite the challenges and protests that have arisen from the policy change. He expressed confidence in the positive impact of these reforms, stating, "We said we can do it, you believed in us. We said the people's lives will end up being better, you believed in us."

He concluded by stating that the government is committed to its pledge to serve the country and its people, and expressed optimism about the future, saying, "There is one thing I know is that there is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel."
