After few years, Paul fell really sick and was admitted to hospital for weeks, lots of money was spent to revive his health but he eventually died.
Paul’s death brought so much pain to his wife, his family started picking on her they tag her as a witch that took their son from them after he was making it and doing well for the family.According to the tradition of Paul's family, his corpse must be buried in the village in the presence of all his family members.
Lola packed her things with her three children to the village to perform the final rites for her husband, getting to the village the family began to tag her as a witch and blood sucker that killed their son. James who has always hated Lola told the entire family of how Lola was always fighting him when she was in the village, how she injured and almost killed him and that was why she took his brother far away so she can easily kill him.
The pain was so much for her, she screamed and cried for her innocence, the family then decided she will have to swear to the gods to prove her innocence but her sons forbids such action. They told the family of how their father was sick and their mother knows nothing about his death but the family insisted on her swearing or her husband's corpse won't be buried that day until another seven days.
After so many argument Lola decided to bend to the family wish, she was taken to the shrine, she swore and the gods confirm her innocence. Her sons were happy at their mother’s innocence but the family was very angry they were humiliated after all the process was done the corpse was buried
After the burial, the family called for a family meeting that includes Lola and her children. At the meeting the family told Lola and her children to stay back in the village for that is what their custom demand for any widow, she was given examples of different widows that stayed back to respect their custom. Lola who was already tired of the maltreatment and pains they caused her refuse to stay in the village. She immediately went in to Park her things and Left for the city with her children.
