Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is likely to breathe a sigh of relief as the Egyptian Football Association confirms that Mo Salah's back injury, sustained during the 2-2 draw with Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations, is not severe enough to sideline him for an extended period. Despite initial concerns about Salah's availability for Liverpool's title campaign, the injury is expected to keep him out for only a couple of games.
A statement from the Egyptian FA clarified the situation, stating, "Mohamed Salah has suffered a strain in his back muscle and will miss two matches at the Africa Cup of Nations." The x-rays revealed a strain in the posterior muscle, and Salah is set to sit out the upcoming matches against Cape Verde and the Round of 16 if Egypt qualifies.
While Salah's absence is a setback for Egypt, the statement indicated that the injury is not anticipated to affect his participation in the quarter-finals, provided Egypt progresses to that stage. Egypt's next match is scheduled for Monday, January 22, with the Round of 16 matches slated to occur between January 27 and 29.
