A transgender man in Italy, referred to as "Marco," who had undergone a mastectomy as part of his transition, was found to be five months pregnant, joining the rare group known as "seahorse dads."
The unexpected pregnancy was discovered during preparations for uterus removal at a hospital in Rome. Dr. Giulia Senofonte, an endocrinologist, emphasized the need to immediately suspend hormone therapy to avoid potential risks to the fetus.
The case, believed to be the first of its kind in Italy, highlights the unique experiences of transgender individuals navigating parenthood.
