Fresh allegations have emerged surrounding former WWE star Ashley Massaro, who tragically died by suicide in 2019, shedding light on her previous accusations against WWE executives, including Vince McMahon.
According to Vice, a recently uncovered statement provided by Massaro before her death detailed further allegations against McMahon, stemming from events during her wrestling career.
In 2016, Massaro had accused members of the US Armed Forces of drugging and sexually assaulting her during a WWE tour of Kuwait in 2006. She also alleged abuse by McMahon and claimed that WWE discouraged her from reporting the incident.
Following Massaro's suicide, WWE released a statement denying any prior knowledge of her allegations. The statement reiterated that neither McMahon nor WWE management were informed of the reported sexual assault during the Kuwait tour. WWE asserted that had they been made aware of such claims, they would have immediately reported them to the Base Commander.
In the latest statement, Massaro alleged that McMahon had engaged in sexual misconduct towards female wrestlers, asserting that she faced on-screen punishment for rejecting his advances. She claimed that McMahon's behavior was part of a pattern, with wrestlers often receiving unfavorable storylines as retribution for refusing him.
Furthermore, former WWE executive John Laurinaitis was named as a defendant in Massaro's lawsuit. His lawyer has stated that both McMahon and other WWE executives, including Laurinaitis, were aware of Massaro's allegations.
These new allegations have reignited scrutiny of WWE's handling of misconduct claims and have raised questions about the company's corporate culture and accountability measures.
