Ebiraland Youths Coalition Calls for Protection of Former Governor Yahaya Bello

The Ebira Youth Coalition (EYC) has urged the Federal Government to ensure the safety of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello. They alleged that individuals in influential positions, in collaboration with other ethnic groups in Kogi State, are conspiring to harm Bello and discredit the entire Ebira community.

In a statement by the EYC Coordinator, Fache Onimisi Moses, the group expressed concern over the simultaneous withdrawal of Bello's security detail by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Police, despite a court order restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting him. The EYC believes this indicates a plot to eliminate Bello.

The EYC called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and halt the unwarranted harassment of Bello by the EFCC. They urged the EFCC to seek legal means to vacate the restraining order against Bello, rather than resorting to "shameful actions."

The coalition also cautioned youths from other ethnic groups in Kogi State against using social media to malign Bello and the Ebira people, warning that such actions could disrupt the peace in the state. They reminded Kogi East youths of their support for Kogi Central during the EFCC's mistreatment of former Governor Abubakar Audu, emphasizing the need for unity among the state's youths.

The EYC emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and understanding among the various ethnic groups in Kogi State, urging all parties to resolve their differences amicably and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
