Netanyahu Vows IDF Advance into Rafah Despite International Pressure

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will push into Rafah, asserting that "no force in the world" can prevent the impending invasion of the Gaza city, which is currently home to approximately 1.4 million displaced Palestinians.

Netanyahu made these remarks while addressing new IDF recruits, stating Israel's intention to eradicate Hamas. Despite calls from the United States and European leaders to refrain from invading Rafah without a proper civilian evacuation plan, Netanyahu insisted, "We will complete the elimination of the Hamas battalions, including in Rafah."

Israel alleges that Rafah is the operational base for four of the remaining six Hamas battalions, supported by other Palestinian militant groups.

"We will complete the elimination of the Hamas battalions, including in Rafah," Netanyahu said. "There is no force in the world that will stop us...this enemy, after what it has done, will not do it again. It will cease to exist."

Netanyahu reiterated that Israel's primary objective remains the safe return of all hostages held by Hamas since the October 7 attack. The fate of the remaining 133 hostages, including at least five US citizens, remains uncertain.

Netanyahu's statement follows his claim that a date had been set for the Rafah incursion. The US has urged Netanyahu to ensure a proper plan is in place to evacuate civilians from Rafah before the IDF operation begins.
