Lagos Police Deputy Commissioner Found Dead in Ogbomosho Home

Deputy Commissioner of Police Gbolahan Oyedemi, stationed at the Lagos State Police Command, was discovered dead in his house in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. The 50-year-old officer, who had returned home to celebrate the Easter holidays, was found dead on Tuesday, April 2.

Sources familiar with the incident revealed to Leadership Newspaper that his body was found hanging in the house on Monday, indicating a possible suicide.

“He came with his aides and we heard that he discharged them to go and celebrate Easter with their respective families only to hear that he ended it all yesterday (Monday)," a former aide to the late Governor Akala, who had served concurrently with DCP Oyedemi, recounted.

“He was formerly living with his mother in the same house he built for her around Randa area of Ogbomoso. Later, he constructed another house located at Petros Academy Street, Federal Lowcost area, and subsequently moved to the new building. He was unmarried,” another source added.

A police source at FCID, speaking with DailyTrust, mentioned that some individuals would be summoned for questioning regarding the incident, including those who first discovered his body.

“This is to ascertain where the deceased went before his death, who was with him when he entered his room, and who had his two handsets at the time of his death,” the source stated.
