Transcript Reveals Biden Confused Key Dates During Interview

A transcript of an October interview with US President Joe Biden and special counsel Robert Hur has revealed that Biden confused key dates, including the year his son Beau died of brain cancer and the year Donald Trump was elected president.

During the interview, Biden initially struggled to remember the year Beau died, asking, "What month did Beau die? Oh, God, May 30 —" He was then reminded by White House lawyer Rachel Cotton and another individual that Beau died in 2015. Biden responded, "It was 2015," acknowledging his error.

This contradicted Biden's previous claim that Hur had inappropriately raised his son's death during the interview. Biden had expressed anger, stating, "There's even some reference that I don't remember when my son died. How the hell dare he raise that?" However, the transcript shows that Biden had brought up Beau's death unprompted.

Later in the interview, Biden also mistakenly referred to Trump's election, asking if he had been elected in "November of 2017" instead of the correct year, which was 2016.

The transcript was obtained by the New York Times and published before Hur's testimony before the House Judiciary Committee regarding his probe of Biden's retention of classified national security information after leaving office. Hur had previously stated that he would not recommend charges against Biden, citing Biden's poor memory as a factor.
