Two UK Nationals Arrested in Romania on European Arrest Warrants for Sexual Offenses

Romanian authorities have announced the arrest of two UK nationals, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, on European arrest warrants issued by UK judicial authorities for committing sexual offenses, including the exploitation of individuals on UK territory.

The pair has been ordered to be held for 24 hours by a Bucharest court, according to police statements. They are awaiting trial in Romania on separate charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal group to sexually exploit women.

Andrew Tate, known for his online presence where he describes himself as a misogynist, has confirmed through a spokesperson that the warrants were issued by Westminster Magistrates Court.

In June 2023, lawyers representing four women threatened Tate with a lawsuit in English courts over allegations of sexual assault, which allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2016 while Tate was based in the UK. The women, now in their late twenties and early thirties, have accused Tate of violent rapes, serious physical assault, and controlling and coercive behavior.

Tate’s spokesperson has stated that both Andrew and Tristan Tate “unequivocally deny all allegations and decry what they perceive as an exploitative use of the legal system.”
