Late Music Star Mohbad: Toxicology Test Results Ready, Sent to Police

The toxicology test conducted to determine the cause of death of music star Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has been completed in the United States. Lagos State counsel, Oluwaseun Akinde, confirmed this to the coroner's court in Ikorodu in November 2023. The autopsy on the external body was completed earlier, while the toxicology test focused on the internal body.

Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, leading to controversies on social media. The Lagos State Police Command inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe his death.

An official of the Lagos State Government disclosed that the test results were sent to the state DNA and Forensic Centre last week. The results were then transmitted to the police earlier this week. The toxicology report arrived on Monday but was sent to the pathologist who conducted the autopsy for analysis and interpretation.

Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari, had earlier stated on March 20 that the toxicology result would be ready in three to four weeks. He mentioned during a coroner's inquest into Mohbad's death that they searched for multiple possibilities, including poison, as no actual cause of death was mentioned. Somiari also explained the procedures for monitoring samples moved abroad and ensuring the security of results."
