Former presidential candidate and ex-Anambra governor, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over the Nigerian government's expenditure of approximately N10 trillion on servicing what he describes as 'unproductive' debts.
In a post on his X page on Tuesday, April 2, Obi highlighted that in 2023, the total debt servicing for domestic debts was N4.4 trillion, while that of external debt servicing was $3.5 billion, approximately N4.9 trillion. This, he stated, totals around N10 trillion spent on servicing unproductive debts.
Obi pointed out that what the country borrowed in a quarter is roughly equal to N10 trillion, which is also the amount spent on debt servicing
